Scroll through your Facebook feed and it appears that everyone, but you are travelling the world, doing amazing things and living their best lives. Frustrated, you decide to shift over to your professional feed on LinkedIn and low and behold, there is the young college graduate that just landed an amazing role at Google. You’ve been trying for years just to get any recruiter to respond to a message.

You don’t want to be envious. You are genuinely happy, but it’s maddening.

Why is everyone else doing extraordinary things?

What do they know that you don’t?

Why is your life so ordinary and bland? You are tempted to post a picture of your Hello Fresh dinner masterpiece to show that you aren’t as boring as you feel, but instead you hit like on a funny cat video and call it a day.

Have you ever considered what is behind other’s extraordinary experiences?

What is extraordinary? If you think about the semantics of it, it’s just a bit more, in addition, adding to. The word isn’t audaciouslymassivelyextraordinary. It’s simply EXTRA ordinary. Something in addition to what you already are accomplishing — ordinary!

What’s it take to do the extraordinary or be extraordinary?

Extra ordinary takes going the extra step beyond what you always do, what you know to do, and embracing the unknown. Just one step beyond. If you want to have extraordinary experiences, you have to push outside of your current boundaries. Hint, oftentimes, these are self-imposed.

What would you do if time and money were a limitless resource to you?

Where would you go?

What would you do?

What have you always wanted to do or try but have not done?

Perhaps you have wanted to do stand up comedy, but you are terrified to speak in front of people. Maybe you would love to take an art class, but don’t have the financial resources.

It’s a lost cause. You are just meant to be ordinary. Or are you?

Here’s the kicker. The biggest secret to living an extraordinary life is your perspective.

Part of pushing the boundaries of what you are comfortable with is challenging the narrative that you have in your mind about your current state, where you are, where you want to be and what you would like to do.

How you see the world and pursue the world is the key to living an extraordinary life.

You don’t have to go to Maui and be photographed frolicking in a majestic pool under a waterfall to have an extraordinary experience.

Extraordinary experiences come when we step beyond how we would normally view our world and how we experience it.

It’s how we taste, smell, feel, see, sense, and hear our world. It means doing something different from what you “ordinarily” do to experience something different, extraordinary.

It is said that the world is our oyster, and the pearl is up to us to seize. Keep in mind, the pearl doesn’t just fall out of the oyster; it takes effort. It takes going after the pearl.

Rather than limiting your thinking around living an extraordinary life, forget about excuses of time and money. Forget about what you have defined extraordinary as.

Pushing boundaries to live an extraordinary life is achieved by shifting how you see the world.

It’s the beauty of crunching leaves, the chill in the air, vibrant sounds and colors. It’s music that fills the soul. It’s quiet solitude.

Extraordinary is surrounding you. You are in it. It’s time to experience it.
